Charlie Fountain - Drums and Percussion
Born in Seattle, the cradle of Hendrix and the grunge movement, Charlie's firecracker style of drumming touches on both of these and many other sources. Having criss-crossed the country, he started studying and playing in Florida ( where the barefoot style began ) then doing gigs around the southern California area. During his travels he began attracting attention, causing one writer to write ...it's a joy to watch one who can pop rim shots at will and twirl sticks in between... Coming to Austin in 1985, Charlie began diving into the many varied styles of music here. From blues and soul to Latin and jazz, the latter taking him to jazz festivals in and out of the country. In 1993 Van Wilks was heard to say "Sir Charles exudes a boyish pseudo Californian charm while subtly espousing Marxism via his tom toms, I must have him in my band"... So there it started, rocking houses across Texas and recording the c.d. Soul of a Man...... ..The saga continues....
